COCOBOD advised to be vigilant in distribution fertilizer to cocoa farmers

The 2011 national best cocoa farmer, Mr. Ignatius Agbo has urged the officials from the Ghana COCOBOD who distribute pesticides and fertilizers to the cocoa farmers to be extra vigilant in carrying out their distribution.

He noted that, there are a lot of farmers who does not cultivate cocoa, yet they receive or benefit from every opportunities from the COCOBOD in the cocoa growing areas.

Mr. Agbo in an interview with Rite News reaching on some issues cocoa farmers’ have brought up in accessing pesticide, he mentioned that mass cocoa spraying exercise has now been turned into politics.

He also called on government and the COCOBOD to intervene in such act and make sure that, the real cocoa farmers continue to benefit from the mass cocoa spraying exercise.

Mr. Agbo said, though, the officials of COCOBOD demand voter ID cards from the cocoa farmers before they distribute the fertilizers to them but to avoid partiality and being biased, the officials should work harder to gather more information about them, so that they will know the actual cocoa farmers in the area.
