Cocoa Extension Officers Urged to Develop Good Relationship With Farmers

Dr. Opoku Ameyaw an agronomist at the cocoa research institute has called on cocoa farmers on board in other to address some challenges facing the farmers.

He said that there was the need for extension officers and farmers to have some form of cordial relationship between, because without any good relationship, the extension officers cannot educate the farmers on farming practice and exposure of new varieties of seeds or cocoa seedlings.

Dr. Opoku speaking to rite news has said that, it is mandate of every cocoa extension officer to see to it that there is always assistance and provision of knowledge for the farmers. Adding that every cocoa farmer who want to attain high yield of cocoa will depend on the assistance from the officers.

According to him, the officers must always be at the service of the farmers and make sure that they provide the necessary information to them.

He assessed that the cocoa production is declining in some farming communities due to the unavailability of these extension officers to assist the farmers.
