Cameroon Taking Bold Stripes In Cocoa And Mango Production

By Austin Ofori Addo:

Miss Dian Torkpenu, a Cameroonian student resident in Ghana has been extolling the virtues of her country as far as cocoa and mango production are concerned. According to her, her country was doing everything great and possible to enhance the production of cocoa and mango in her native country.

Speaking on Rite FM’s Agric Forum with Krobea Asante on Saturday, Miss Torkpenu whose parents are farmers said her grandparents are having vast acres of cocoa plantation. She described her people’s interest in agriculture as ‘so amazing,’ adding that they were doing great as long as cocoa production is concerned.

Miss Torkpenu who is studying Management Communication and Languages in the country said that even though Cameroon has a lot of natural resources, the government nevertheless takes agriculture seriously. She said cocoa farming is very important to the people for processing as well as exporting the raw materials to Europe.

She added that farmers cultivating mangoes got enough profit to reinvest into and support their mango farming activities which according to her is impressive.

Miss Torkpenu therefore called on the government of Ghana to pay similar attention to the agric sector by working with farmers as her government was doing.
