Best Farmer Expresses Appreciation over Awards

2017 Lower Manya Krobo Municipal best farmer, Mr. Emmanuel Kofi could not hide his joy when he was confirmed the best farmer for the municipality on Friday during the recently held 33rd National Farmer’ Day.

Mr. Kofi who spoke in an interview with Rite news after he was declared overall district best farmer, expressed his glee at the feat.

“I’m really pleased to be recognized, nominated, and finally emerge the best farmer for the Lower Manya Municipality,” he said.

According to him, he had been engaged in the farming business since 1990 and had worked hard within the past twenty-seven years to win an award one day.

He added that his illiterate background compelled him to go into farming so that he can also contribute his quota to the nation’s building.

Mr. Kofi cultivates a variety of crops and also a livestock farmer. He enumerated some of his crops to Rite FM’s Prince Paul Amuzu in a post-event interview.

“I cultivate cassava, maize, plantain, garden eggs, beans and fowls and rear goat and sheep. I have also employed people who keep proper records of my farming business to make sure I meet all the requirement for the awards process,” he said.

For his prize, Mr. Kofi received a deep freezer, one pack of roofing sheets, full piece cloth, one wheel barrow, two spraying machines, six cutlasses, watering can, wheel barrow and a tricycle.

He told Rite news that he was happy with the awards.

“I’m very happy with the awards given me because the items awarded me are going help me on the farm,” he said.

The Lower Manya Krobo Farmers’ Day celebrations was part of the nationwide observation of the day set aside to recognize the hard work of the country’s farmers.

The event which took place at Oborpa also saw seventeen others also receiving deserving prizes.
