Yam farmers at Kete- Krachi in the Volta Region has expressed worry about their inability to transport farm produce to the market due to the deplorable road network in the district.
Speaking to Rite FM News on behalf of the farmers, Pastor Oklu Nartey noted that the roads leading to the various farming communities is in a bad state which affecting their farming activities.
According to him, farmers cannot transport their farm produce especially yam to the market after harvesting. Adding that sometimes foodstuffs are left to rot on the farm.
Pastor Oklu stressed that, they always employ people to convey foodstuffs from the farm to the market which comes with a huge cost and affecting them seriously.
He said the nature of the road has repel drivers from plying the road and also few who ply on the road charge high fares.
