The Municipal Chief Executive for the Asunafo North Municipality, Alhaji Mahammed Kweku Doku has donated items to persons with disabilities in his municipality.
The items included wheelchairs, crutches and some other aiding equipment.
Presenting the items to the beneficiaries, Alhaji Mahammed said the purpose was to facilitate the movement of the beneficiaries in order to help them engage themselves in some productive ventures.
According to him, persons with disabilities are part of our society and must be recognized as people who have the potentials to contribute to the development of the country because disability is not an inability.
Receiving the items on behalf of the beneficiaries, District Director of Social Welfare for Asunafo North Municipality, Mr. Prince Fofoie thanked the M.C.E for the humanitarian gesture.
He asked the persons with disabilities to take advantage of the two per cent (2%) share of the District Assemblies Common Fund to establish dignified means of livelihood for themselves and stop seeking for alms on the streets.
