Amamfrom Farmers Complain Of Challenges

Farmers at Amanfrom in the Upper Akyem District in the Eastern Region have shared their lamentations to Rite news concerning the several challenges confronting their farming activities which they complained were not going well.

Speaking to Mr. Tawiah Boakye, a farmer who cultivates tomatoes, garden eggs and cocoa on a high scale, he complained about the high cost of the fertilizers and chemicals since farmers were unable to purchase them.

On marketing avenues for their crops, he pointed out that they don’t have any markets in the area and so they are forced to transport it to Asamankese or Botwiase. Additionally, Mr. Boakye complained about some difficulties in getting traders and market women to patronize their produce as they complain of high prices.

Appealing to government to come to their aid, he pointed out the bad nature of their roads which results in drivers hiking their fares as well as the roads becoming unmotorable during the rainy season.
