Allow Farmers to Organize Farmers’ Day Award – NFFAWAG Appeals to President

Chairman of the National Farmers and Fishermen Award Winners Association of Ghana, (NFFAWAG), Mr. Davies Narh Korboe has appealed to the president, Nana Akuffo Addo to hand over the organization of subsequent National Farmers’ Day Awards events to the association, starting from the 34th Farmers’ Day in 2018.

Chairman Davies made the call in his key note address on behalf of the association at the 33rd National Farmers’ Day ceremony held at the Heroes Park of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in the Ashanti Region.

According to him, the proposal if accepted, will take the burden of the organization off the shoulders of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture and the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development.

“We passionately appeal to the president and his government to allow the farmers and the Agribusiness community to organize the farmers’ day celebration as from next year. This takes the burden off the Ministry of Food and Agriculture and the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development,” Chairman Davies asserted.

The statement further urged the president to implore all ministers of state and other public office holders to embark on farming and Agribusiness.

According to the association, the step will increase food security, create employment, rake in foreign exchange and guarantee raw material for the one district one factory.
