Agric Director Lauds MAASI’s Impacts

Director of Agric at the Asuogyaman District of the Eastern region, Mr. David Dokli has acknowledged that the contributions of the Mobilizing Action towards Agric Sector Improvement, (MAASI) project which was organized by Rite FM contributed towards the operations of the Department of Agriculture.

The project which was supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)’s ‘feed the future’ programme brought a lot of impacts especially on the best farming practices to farmers and major infrastructural developments to some communities in the Yilo Krobo Municipality, especially in the Asyogyaman District.

Mr. Dokli who made the assertions in an interview with Krobea Asante during the Rite Morning Ride on Monday to discuss the impact of the MAASI project under his jurisdiction and also assess the accountability of agriculture under the decentralization system noted that the MAASI project enhanced their awareness as an agric department.

He mentioned the formation of agric sub-committees to replace of the Development Committees and the preparation of a budget to fund various extension services for efficient and effective delivery in the cause of their operations, as the key highlights of the impacts of the project on the Asuogyaman district.

He was however worried that the department nevertheless was still reeling under some challenges, particularly the decentralization system.

“We are faced with a lot of challenges under the decentralization system which has to do with financing among other things,’ he stated.
