Ghana president John Mahama praised the Black Stars for their gallant display in the final of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations despite losing on penalties.
The match played in Bata ended 0-0 after extra-time and the Black Stars were in the driving seat during the shootouts when the Elephants missed their first two spot-kicks.
But the table turned and Ivory Coast went on to win 9-8 from 22 kicks.
Just like the 1992 finals, Ghana lost on penalties to Ivory Coast.
His Excellency posted on his Twitter account: “Kudos #BlackStars. Gallant performance despite our loss. You exceeded our expectations, going from zero to heroes. I am proud of you.”
